Rooftop Films Presents: This is What We Mean by Short Films! To launch our 18th annual Rooftop Films Summer Series, we set out to prove once again that the short film is the medium best suited to showcase the power of a freewheeling imagination. The Rooftop Films Summer Series is nothing if not wild, and this selection of dynamic short films encapsulates the adventurous spirit of our organization. This is a short film program that will inspire you to pump iron, smack your friends’ butts, launch yourself into space, question the concepts of time and life, and then go home to share an egg sandwich and recharge. Rooftop Films Presents: Obvious Child Rooftop Films kicks off its 18th season with the international festival favorite Obvious Child, a subversive, modern-day romantic comedy written and directed by Gillian Robespierre and starring Jenny Slate. Rooftop Films Presents: Off the Beaten Path (Rural Short Films) Rooftop showcases the poetic, humorous, and sometimes heartbreaking beauty of life lived in the wild as we kick off our screenings atop the country’s largest rooftop farm. Doors open at 8pm. Tickets $13, available online and at the door. Venue information: BROOKLYN GRANGE (NAVY YARD FARM - On Rooftop). 63 Flushing Avenue, Building #3, Roof, Brooklyn, NY, 11205 TO GET TO THE NAVY YARD: Take the G train to Clinton/Washington Avenue. Walk down Lafayette Avenue. Make a left on Clinton Avenue. Continue on Clinton until you get to Flushing Avenue security gate. TO GET TO BROOKLYN GRANGE'S NAVY YARD FARM: Enter the Navy Yard at Clinton Ave and Flushing Ave, and tell the guard at the gate that you're headed up to Brooklyn Grange at Building 3. *Have a photo ID ready to show the guard.* Then make a hard left once you're through the gate so that you're essentially walking and/or driving on Flushing Ave, but on the Navy Yard side of the fence. Brooklyn Grange is the third building you'll pass on your right--it's the huge white and brown one with the loading dock that wraps all the way around it. The entrance is right in the center of the building, on the Flushing Ave side. Take the elevators up to 11, then make two rights, and head up one flight of stairs for the farm. |

Rad Miracle is a shy 13-year-old white kid who's obsessed with two things: ping pong and hip hop. During his family's annual summer vacation to Ocean City, Maryland, Rad makes a new best friend, experiences his first real crush, becomes the target of rich local bullies, and finds an unexpected mentor in his outcast next-door neighbor. Ping Pong Summer is about that time in your life when you're treated like an alien by everyone around you, even though you know deep down you're as funky fresh as it gets.
